Ava Grace

Ava is...
  • ...19 months old! Wow.
  • ...ALWAYS wants to know where daddy is. ALWAYS. : )
  • ...is truly sweet. joyful. and wakes with a smile on her face.
  • ...growing like CRAZY. Seriously. Instead of being behind a size or two in clothing, she has caught up and surpassed her age. Now wearing 18 and 24 month old clothing. All her 18 month old dresses are up to her knees. : )
  • ...talking and jabbering on and on and on...
  • ...still a super climber. She will climb anything and is always getting into things. It's IMPOSSIBLE to put dishes into the dishwasher or remove them from the dishwasher when she is awake.
  • ...must, must, must do everything big sister does. This includes sitting on the potty, having her toenails painted, watching tv, watering plants, playing with toys (luckily we have two of lots of stuff)... the list goes on. She wants to be in on everything and she makes it known.
  • ...will hopefully soon be leaving the hitting stage. She doesn't hit very much. Only when she is provoked or one leans into her space too quickly really. Usually "Gentle Ava. Gentle." does it. Then she takes my head into her hands and says "Ohhhh. Momma. Oh." and snuggles me. But not always. : )
  • ...does lots of stuff that Jules never did: climbing, throwing food off the highchair, sleeps through the night SO SO SO well and always has, jumps in head first (sometimes literally), is very attached to her blankie and thumb, has pooped in the tub three times so far (yea)...
  • ...thinks play-doh is AWESOME and likes to take a lick when mom turns her head even for the slightest moment.
  • ...thrives on making Julianna laugh. She can really ham it up as she runs laps around the dining, living, and kitchen.
  • ...climbs into (on a daily basis) the crib Uncle Jamie made for Jules. She sits, surrounds herself with a baby or two, and observes the world from her seat. : )
  • ...LOVES fruit of all shapes and sizes and is all around a very good eater. She's handling the fork and spoon pretty well these days when she chooses.
  • ...would stay outside all day and night if we let her (even in the hot hot hot summer).
  • ...is such a sweet and wonderful and easy going little bundle of fun and love. That being said, Chad and I have been entertained by her developing personality and her strong opinions. She's also good at letting big sis know when she's gone too far. She's working on saying "Stop Jules." Which sounds like "Top Juice." Mostly it comes out as a high pitched screech. It's work in progress.
  • ...has food allergies, too. Ugh. That's another post.
  • ...has a favorite game. What we call "Animal Escape." Basically like hunting for easter eggs except we hide small animal figurines all over the house. Ava literally creeps around each room with her lips puckered, hunched over, tip toeing about. When she finds an animal she stops, points, makes an animal noise (not necessarily the animal noise, but still), and scoops the animal into her basket. Then she resumes the hunched, creeping position to find the next animal. (Can you tell it's my favorite game, too? ; )
