My Girl is Seven

My lovely girl is seven.  She is the perfect balance of smarts and beauty, sporty and feminine, and one of the best, most loyal friends you could have.  Jules is truly kind and thoughtful to the hearts of others.  She's a doer and rarely sits still or sleeps in.  She loves her family, cherishes time with her friends, prays the most innocent and pure and perfect prayers, and is a joy in our lives every day.  Julianna is such a gift to us.  I am so thankful I get to be her mom in this life.  : )

Sacagawea

Lining up for the book character parade...

Class picture and party

The book she read in September and the inspiration for her book character costume.  (Jules looooves this series.  She is such a biography type of girl just like her Aunt Jackie.)

Sacagawea & Pomp

Ever since her dad told her of his Native American roots (I am still not sure if this is family folklore or whatnot), Julianna has been fascinated with all things Native American.  We came across this book series over the summer and Jules was instantly drawn to this one book in particular.  (So far she's read Harriet Tubman, Sacagawea, Abraham Lincoln, and she has her eye on Amelia Earhart.)  It was a natural choice for her character parade and for Halloween.

Field Trip to the Zoo

Jules and E heading to see the penguins!

Kisses

So very interesting to see these guys up close.

I had so much fun chaperoning Julianna's trip to the zoo a few weeks ago.  We had just one other friend in our group so the girls just wandered at their own pace whichever way they chose.  So wonderful.

Soccer Girl

Jules just finished her fifth soccer season last night.  What a wonderful group of talented soccer players we had and an impressive 11-1 season!  Julianna is a terrific teammate and plays with a lot of heart.  We are so proud of you Julianna!  : )

North Carolina

On the drive into Boone, NC.

The girls waking up to mountain views and cool mountain air. : )

Our cabin and view.

A sweet little farm on the drive up to the cabin.

We decided to be a little spontaneous this weekend and headed for the mountains.  It's the only weekend we have free until Thanksgiving, so we took advantage of it!

I spent quite a bit of time fretting that all of the leaves would still be green.  According to the "fall foliage predictor" we would be early.  But, I had seen some sky cam views of the mountains, tracked the temps for the week prior and felt otherwise. Chad had a good time teasing me about this because (I am not lying) we hit the mountains at peak color. It was a-mazing.  Our time there renewed my love for the Virginia/North Carolina range.  I am not sure we will always live in a place where we can drive to the beach or drive to the mountains.  So, seize the day!
